To assist teachers, secretaries, and clerical personnel when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
The NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND (NCLB) guidelines require that paraprofessionals (educational assistants) who provide instructional services must have fulfilled one of the following to meet the highly qualified requirements
- Obtained an associate’s or higher degree; or
- Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
- Passed a test that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and mathematics
- Two years experience working with children
- Strong verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES
- Report to Site Facilitator
- Assist teachers, secretaries and clerical personnel when needed
- Administer, score, and record such achievements and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher
- Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes
- Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction
- Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods and field trips
- Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and makeup work as assigned
- Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills
- Know and follow all safety rules and procedures associated with the responsibilities of the position
- Establish and maintain satisfactory, respectful working relationships within the school environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
